Finished with either contemporary gloss black or super silver facia, the impressive new ‘Boston’ CD Burning music system from Steepletone features a 33 / 45 / 78 rpm turntable (with cueing control) under hinged lid, full-function CD and tape-cassette player with Ffwd, an FM - Stereo/MW radio plus an ingenious built-in CD recorder.
Simply select and play your chosen record/tape/CD, press Record Button on the CD recorder (burner) and transfer your music onto a new CD. It’s so simple to use, as well as saving old vinyl and cassettes to digital you can also make copies of your existing CDs – all without a computer and with just one touch of a button! You can even connect any external audio device (e.g. 8-track recorder, reel-to-reel player, MP3 etc) to the unit’s 3.5mm line-in Aux input to record this to CD too!

Q&As
Back to TopQ There is no Power going into the unit
A Make sure the unit is plugged in fully into a 230v AC Mains socket, and if this has a switch, this has been switched on.
A Check that when the OFF/On/Radio switch is switched to ON or RADIO, the Red Power LED Indicator is on.
Q There is no sound coming from the unit
A Check the volume level by turning the volume knob or by pressing the Volume + on the unit or on the Remote.
A Check there are no Headphones plugged in – this will cut all sound from the speakers.
A Check the Speaker Wire connections
Q The unit is connected via the Line-out to another Hi-Fi/Amplifier, but no sound can be heard
A Check if the sound on this unit has been turned down. If so, turn it up again to hear the sound coming through the other speakers.
Q My Cassette starts to play and then stops
A Some Cassettes which have not been played for long time tend to stick, please Fast Forward (see page E-3), turn over the tape and Fast forward again. Do this several times to both loosen the Tape.
Q Turntable is not working
A Make sure the unit is set to “PHONO” Mode by pressing the Function button.
A Check if the turntable platter can be spun round without any resistance, if so, the belt may have come off the mechanism and needs to be refitted, see separate Instructions and line drawings in the main manual page E-9.
Q Turntable – the sound is low when playing a record
A Remove and refit the stylus or check if the stylus is damaged. Replacement styli can be purchased from your Dealer or Steepletone. Please phone 01869-810081 to purchase one.
Q Turntable – the arm slides across the record
A Make sure the protective needle cover is removed.
A Make sure the stylus is not damaged. Ensure the record is clean
Q I have recorded a Long Play Record, but the display shows there is just one track on the recording
A Next time you record an LP, make sure you press the “TS” or Track Split button on the unit or the Remote to separate the tracks. See page E-7.
Q My CD is stuck in CD1 and does not eject
A If you have a disc in CD1 then press CD1 Button ‘BUSY’ will display wait until CD1/Aux is displayed at the top of LCD display then press eject for CD1 left Sided Eject Button
Q My CD/ CDR is stuck in CDII and does not eject
A If you have a disc in CDII then press CDII Button, ‘BUSY’ will display wait until CD2 is displayed at the top of LCD display then press eject for CD2 Right Sided Eject Button
Q The CD I Player does not play Audio CD’s or Discs recorded in CD II
A Make sure the unit is set to CD I/AUX Mode by pressing the FUNCTION button.
A Check the OFF/ON/RADIO POWER Button is pressed to the “ON” position.
A Make sure the CD I/AUX function has been selected and the Play/Pause button of CD I has been pressed.
A Check to make sure the CD is inserted correctly (printed or label side facing up).
A Check that the surface of the CD is clean.
A Make sure the CD contains recorded music and is not blank.
A Make sure a disc recorded in CD II has been finalized. See page E-7.
A Check if it is an MP3 CD as this cannot be played back on this unit.
Q CD Player does not play when pressing the Remote Control Top Main Play/Pause buttons
A The CD Player can only be operated by the Remote control buttons in the lower section of the remote.
Q Cannot get CD Recorder/Player to play my CD’s
A The CD II is mainly used for recording, please finalize the recorded disc and play it back in CD I.
Q The Display shows “FULL” when the recording has finished.
A Only around 65-70 minutes of music can be recorded on an 80MIN disc.
Q The unit does not record
A Make sure you are using a CD-R or CD-RW CD of the recommended Brands. See page E-9.
A Make sure the CD is blank – check ”NO TOC” shows on the display.
A Make sure you press RECORD and then PLAY/PAUSE to start recording.
Q I have recorded a CD but it does not play in my other CD Player
A Some recorded CD-R or CD/RW Discs may not be compatible with other CD Players, try a different brand of CD.
Q I have recorded a CD but it does not display any Folder/Artist/Title or Song Information
A This information will not show on the recorded disc.
Q I have recorded a CD but now wish to Erase the songs on it
A The ERASE function only works on a CD-RW (re-writable) disc.
