In just one machine and at the touch of a single button you can play and record vinyl and tapes direct to CD – no PC needed!
Simply place your record (33.3, 45, or 78 rpm) on to the turntable or cassette into the tape player, insert a blank CD into the built-in CD burner, hit the record button and let Neostar Vinyl2CD transfer vinyl or tape to CD - listen to the CD in-car, at home, on your computer, or anywhere with a standard CD player.
You can even connect any external audio player (e.g. CD player, MP3 player/iPod, 8-track recorder, reel-to-reel player etc) to Vinyl2CD using the ‘aux-in’ input connections (lead supplied) for transferring your other music collections direct to CD, or for making copies of your existing CDs!
PLUS You also have the option to connect Vinyl2CD to a PC or Mac via the USB lead (supplied) for instant transfer of your recordings to your computer. Using the FREE ‘Audacity’ software supplied, your recordings are imported into iTunes where Gracenote MusicID technology retrieves album, artist, and song info. In addition, ‘Audacity' editing software cleans up recordings and provides a full range of editing functions. Happy with the buy.

Cambridge
Better looking than I expected. Setup was very quick, recording within 15 minutes. Plugged straight into the AUX plugs on the Hi-fi amp, plays through the hi-fi setup without any problem. Better sound than I expected Only little issues, an initial hum on first recording, not copied onto the CD, it went away after 10 minutes. The pre-connected cables are a little short, had to juggle the location of the unit.

Q&As
Back to TopQ: Is there a customer service phone number I can call for assistance?
A: The Neostar Electronics Customer Service number is 0844 542 0100
Q: Is there a way to decrease the sensitivity of the track increment feature, so that individual tracks from older vinyl records and tapes can be transferred to CD successfully?
A: Many older recordings feature a certain amount of background hiss/noise and this can affect the ability of Vinyl2CD to recognize the beginning and end of individual tracks. This problem can be solved by using the manual track increment mode (detailed on page 21 of the user manual). Alternatively, you can divide your recorded tracks by using the Audacity software provided (see page 45 of the user manual for details)
Q: Can I use Vinyl2CD to copy my existing CDs?
A: Yes, by connecting your existing CD player to Vinyl2CD via the aux-in jack. Once connected and the aux-in setting has been selected, simply play your CDs on your existing player and create (‘burn’) new CDs on Vinyl2CD
Q: What are the dimensions and weight?
A: 43cm W x 14cm H x 37cm D, 13kgs
Q: Is there a headphone socket?
A: Yes
Q: What types of CD-ROM discs should I use to record onto with my VINYL2CD player/recorder?
A: Use CD-R or CD-RW disks only. We sell the CD-R type disks
Q: Do I need to purchase any specific CD-ROMs or can I use any disks?
A: Any disks of the above type are fine, including the set we sell
Q: If I am recording tracks from a record onto a CD and wish to change the record so I can have a selection of tracks on the one CD but from two records – what do I do?
A: You simply start playing the vinyl record and record to CD as many tracks as you want from that first record, then press Play/Pause and the CD will suspend recording. You can then change the record to a new one, and then simply press Play/Pause again and the recording to CD will recommence as a new track on that same CD
Q: Am I able to record tracks from different records or skip recording certain tracks?
A: Yes. You can do this by pressing the pause button whilst recording, moving to the next track you wish to record and then pressing play
Q: The disc does not play back on other units. What can I do?
A: Please make sure you have finalised the disc. It is important to make sure that after you press the finalise button you press Play whilst the screen says finalise. At this point it will say Busy and finalise the disc
Q: When I play the recorded CD back - nothing has recorded. What can I do?
A: Make sure you press play after you press record and start the record playing
Q: How long is a stylus expected to last?
A: Between 500-1000 hours approx.
Q: What does "No TOC" mean when I put the blank disc in to record?
A: Table of Contents. It's perfectly normal until and just shows that the disc is blank. Once finalised the message will disappear.
Q: The Balance Weight is missing
A: This is in the bag of accessories that comes with the unit. It is transported with it disconnected from the main unit to prevent damage.
Q: Why does the disc not play back on other units?
A: You may need to finalise the disc.
Q: How do I connect speakers/there is no sound?
A: There are no speakers with the unit. Speakers (purchased separately) can be connected using the red and white leads coming out the back of the unit.
These have to be connected into the 'aux in' of an amplifier, not directly into speakers unless the speakers have thier own built-in amp with volume control.
Q: There is a hum in the background
A: There may be a background hum. This can be reduced by adjusting the record volume and further using the editing software on the computer.
Q: TAPE FUNCTIONS - how do you fast forward, rewind and stop the tape?
A: To the left hand side of the tape player is a black universal button. To fast forward tape press half way in , gently press the tape in to resume play back. To stop tape press all and it will eject the tape too. The unit doesn't allow you to rewind tapes - it is suggested that you eject the tape, turn over and use FF to rewind.
Q: Turntable is rubbing or playing wrong speed or not turning at all
A: Has a speed setting (45/33/78 rpm) been selected?
If still not working the unit may be faulty and should be returned.
Q: I have inserted a blank disc and there is a message displayed saying "data disc". What does this mean?
A: This message means that something has already been saved to the disc and therefore isn't blank.
Q: Problems installing the software
A: This is a known problem with installing certain software using Windows XP. mysmartbuy.com have spoken to the manufacturers - they have currently been unable to fix this.
It is advised that customers install the Audacity software also supplied on the packaged CD. This has all of the functionality of the other program included on the Installation Disc.
