Description
Standing on ladders with a chainsaw in hand is probably not the best of ideas. You need to be standing on solid ground in order to cut through branches safely and effectively. The problem is most big branches which require a chainsaw to cut through them are usually high up and out of reach.
The lightweight Eckman long-reach telescopic chainsaw extends from 1.8m (5'10”) to a massive 2.7m (8'10”) allowing you to cut through most big branches without ever needing to climb a ladder making it far safer than using a ‘normal’ chainsaw.
A high quality Oregon bar and chain makes light work of 10inch (26cm) diameter branches and the fully adjustable shoulder strap and non-slip rubberised grip ensure this lightweight (3.5kg) extendable chainsaw lopper from Eckman is a breeze to use.

Eckman 8ft 10in Electric Telescopic Branch Lopper Chainsaw
19/05/2012 19:29:00Has already paid for itself as it saved the expense employing someone..
Barmouth
Very useful tool.
19/05/2012 12:37:00Meets all expectations
CHORLEY
Performed better than I expected, although obviously unwieldy with all the weight at one end. Made some previously impossible to reach branches accessible. Covered its purchase cost in the first day of use Minor niggle - the socket in the tensioning screw gets bunged up with oily wood dust, would be better with slotted head screw, so may change it when out of warranty. Overall very pleased.
Camberley
This does an excellent job, it seems to have plenty of power to cut through branches quickly. The downside is that at it`s extension length it is quite heavy & 30 minutes is as long as you would want to be using it for.
Manchester
My first trial, the lopper is excellent, suits my purpose of reaching otherwise inaccesible branches and saves me a lot of hard work and effort.
Ferndown
Something I have been looking for.
Milton Keynes
Easy to assemble and does a fantasitic job.
cemaes bay
Early indications are that it works well. The instructions for assembly could be clearer, & were it not for the fact that I have experience of chainsaws, I think I might have struggled.
Earley
A very useful and easy to use piece of kit. Easy to assemble although instructions aren't brilliant, but initial supply of chain oil also included. A good purchase !
Henlow
fast delivery, product description accurate
Harlow
Excellent product; was easy to use although a little heavier than I thought. I was surprised to see chainsaw oil in the pack as I had read some comments to say that it wasn't. Thank you.
Norwich
AS described Works well
Norwich
Have only used once, but seems fine
Wellingborough
Excellent lopper if slightly unweildy at full extension.
Barnsley
Good build quality. great for general tree lopping and care. Easy to use and maintain.
Purley
I can't think of any garden tool that I have ever purchased which has so exceeded my expectation. It was purchased to cut back some fairly substantial branches overhanging a lane leading to our house which were causing obstructions to high vehicles and it sliced through these with unbelievable ease.
Fleet
A little bit top heavy for 'golden oldies' but understandable why, offset by excellent performance and value for money.
THRUMSTER
First class product and does what it says on the box
Falmouth
This machine is powerfull and easy to use
loughor
The chainsaw works well. It is heavy to hold at full extension, so the support belt is a "must". It is well made and cuts some very thick branches
Wetherby
Excellent machine. Did all it said on the box.
Wolverhampton
A very good and robust machine. As a 78 year year old,my initial fears about it being too heavy and unmamageable were soon allayed wnen I started to use it. It is going to save me money very quickly when set against costs of employing a contracter. Setting up the machine was fairly simple.
Bagillt
VERY GOOD PRODUCT EASY TO USE
Barrow-in-Furness
Although not used it yet, service was excellent and the tool looks like it is fit for the jobs I need to do
Hook
A well made machine and very useful. It is easy to assemble (when you figure it out) but the instructions could be clearer. A little top heavy to use but as long as you get a good grip it does the job very well.
Newton Stewart
Very good tool exactly what I was looking for and to date has worked perfectly. The manual referred to the correct replacement chain must be used, but did not specify it's detail.
Hertford
Easy to use, does what it says, excellent product.
Coventry
good bit of kit. worththe money
Haverfordwest
Brilliant, would definitely recommend.you Thank
Orpington
Excellent service fast and reliable. Very pleased with the product. I will use them again when I need any thing. Also they keep me informed when the product was available and when the delivery was expected.
Leominster
Very pleased
REDDITCH
great addition to the DIY gardener
BLAIRGOWRIE
Excellent product and price thanks.
WELWYN
Great value for money, although perhaps should have come with some oil.

eastham,wirral
Excellent value for money!!
eastham,wirral
Excellent value for money!!!
Torquay
Absolutely brilliant, cuts through branches very easily. I used it for 8 hours over a weekend, used some oil and adjusted the chain, but very easy to do. A bit heavy on full stretch, just use the harness.
Caterham
Does what it says, very effectively.
Horsham
slightly top heavy but very efficient
Rickmansworth
A very good product - sturdy construction and easily tackles tall branches up to 6/7 inches thick. Easy to use, although the picture instructions could be a little clearer. Certainly cheaper than getting in the professionals. Make sure you buy the chain saw oil though .. not included.
Rugby
Great tool,and easy to use.
HORSHAM
A superb tool for the money - easy to assemble and use. Cuts really well and pole is easy to extend. Have saved a fortune on a tree surgeon to prune my garden trees! Absolutely delighted with it.
Cowes
Chainsaw was as good as you stated !!! Body strap needs to be longer to fit round fuller figures and the instruction booklet drawings were of little use but the saw was A1.
Bristol
excellent item
Southampton
As good if not better than expected. Just a shame I had to buy chainsaw oil!!! Why don't you say that this is needed and sell it too?
Tunbridge Wells
A little on the heavy side but is solidly built and an extremely useful tool.
Plymouth
exactly as described
Alnwick
Very useful piece of equipment worth the cost.
Sheffield
happy with product
Dorchester
It is an excellent product doing all it claims. My ownly reservation would be that it is very top heavy and so needs some strength to hold as you are preparing to use it. Once in place with strap on, and properly adjusted, it is fine.
Newton Abbot
A little difficult to balance due to weight but overall very effective
Malvern
Very pleased with the chainsaw.
Q&As
Back to TopQ: Is there a customer service phone number I can call for assistance?
A: The Eckman Customer Service number is 0844 542 0100
Q: Is there any assembly required before I can use the machine?
A: You’ll need to fit the Oregon Bar and Cutting Chain. Fitting the bar and chain should not take more than a couple of minutes and no special tools are required. The two mains things to ensure are; the chain is fitted with the cutters going in
the correct direction and; the chain is properly adjusted so it is neither too tight nor too loose. Both are comprehensively covered in the instruction manual with easy to follow pictures. A screwdriver is also provided for final tension adjustment.
The only other thing you will need to fit is the shoulder strap.
Q: What oil do I need and where can I buy it? What’s it for?
A: You’ll need to purchase a high grade oil specially designed for chainsaws. You can obtain this from all good DIY stores, garden machinery retailers or garden centres that also sell chainsaws. If you should decide to use any other kind of oil and you damage the machine (highly likely with continued operation), this will invalidate your guarantee. With the motor at full speed, the cutting chain operates at 11 metres per second. The friction between the chain and the bar creates extreme heat. The oil is needed to keep the chain properly lubricated and the heat to a minimum.
Q: How often will I need to check the chain tension?
A: A new chain will stretch so we suggest you re-check the tension after using for 10 minutes. If your first time use is considerably longer than this, re-check after every 10 minutes. After running for an hour or so, it is likely the chain has stretched to its maximum so we suggest in future you re-check the tension before and at the end of each use.
Q: How often will I need to check the oil level?
A: We can’t say exactly as this depends on how fast the engine is running. The faster the chain runs, the more oil will be used. This is automatically adjusted. The oil reservoir has a see-through window so it’s easy to keep an eye on the level when you are working.
Q: What is “kick-back” and how can I avoid it?
A: Kick-back happens when the tip or nose of the chain comes into contact with the wood and is specially noticeable if you are either not holding the machine correctly, or firmly enough. With experience, you can generally avoid kick-back even when cutting with the nose. Inexperienced users should avoid the nose coming into contact with the branch being cut and the instructions give good advice as to the correct method in cutting tree limbs.
Q: Do I need to wear a hard hat when working?
A: Just to be on the safe side, we highly recommend the use of wearing good protective clothing whilst using garden machinery. Whilst cutting high branches, if there is any possibility of the branch you are cutting falling onto your head, then it’s just sensible and good practice to wear a hard hat. Just use your common sense and definitely wear safety goggles to avoid sawdust getting into your eyes when cutting branches that are overhead.
Q: When my chain becomes blunt, can it be sharpened?
A: Yes. It’s a good idea to buy a simple chainsaw file and use it every time you use the saw. This should cost less than £5 from any good DIY store and used correctly, will keep your chain in top condition. A sharp chain means less effort and less effort means safer working. Alternatively, take the chain to any good garden machinery retailer and they will sharpen it for you
