Description
The Eckman “Add-It-2” 2-in-1 Petrol Chainsaw and Hedge Trimmer allows you to switch from trimming high hedges to lopping big branches quickly and easily, making tidying up your garden less of a chore.
The two interchangeable attachments; a 44cm, 180° angle-adjustable hedge trimmer and 27cm chainsaw branch lopper can be swapped within a matter of minutes and are powered by a 30cc engine.
Each attachment sits on a 66cm pole, providing 2.15m / 7ft of reach. If you are planning on trimming hedges or cutting branches that are really high up, you can add the 76cm extension pole that extends the total reach to a massive 2.85m/ 9ft 4ins, allowing you to tackle such jobs safely and with both feet still on the ground.
The hedge trimmer can also be used in a short reach position by using the unique quick-fit 19cm (7½inch) pole, for close-up work (reduces overall length to just 1.75m / 5ft 9ins).

I had to wait some time for this to come back into stock but it was worth the wait.It takes a little bit of time to fit it together before initial use but after that it's so simple.I haven't played with the chainsaw yet but I'm looking forward to it.I have only had a quick go with the hedge trimmer which worked better than my old electric one but I think it will pay for itself within a year as I will be able to trim my high laurel hedge on my own now, instead of paying for a gardener. I need a little more practice though and to build my muscles up !

I do gardening for a living, so this product has had a good work out for the last few weeks. I can't fault the motor unit, robust and easy to start, with plenty of power. The strimmer and brush cutter are as good as any I have used. The poll chainsaw is a little diamond, you need to keep adjusting the chain quite a bit, but what a labour saver. The hedge cutting blade is the only thing that lets the side down. It doesn't exactly cut through a hedge, like a knife through butter. But add the extension poll, and it does give incredible reach. As a whole this product is incredible value for money, let down a little bit by the hedge cutter blade, but the poll chainsaw is magic, and the strimmer & brush cutter are the equal to much more expensive makes. I would highly recommend.

Unit is fine for occasional use, which is all I need, but trimmer and saw have quite a bit of play when extension tube is used, making control a bit difficult. Waited a few weeks before posting this so I could give an honest review. The biggest problem to start with was attaching the extension poles. It took a while before I discovered the knack and I haven't looked back. An excellent tool if a tad heavy when cutting high branches but does what it says on the tin. The hedge trimmer cuts through most small branches but the chain saw, although quite short, cuts through the remainder like knife through butter. I have only tested the strimmer as it is designed for a rough terrain which I don't have (yet) but it is certainly industrial strength. A good buy - thoroughly recommended.

Delivery was good,and as others have said,it is a bit on the heavy side,but then so are the more expensive ones.I've hardly tested it properly yet,but I found it difficult to get proper leverage on the pole saw,and make it bite.My main purpose for the purchase is for the extended hedge trimmer,and I guess that should be ok. There were a couple of screws missing from the engine casing,but I had replacements here at home.The unit came well equipped with protective items such as ear defenders,gloves,goggles etc,so overall,good value for money.

Q - How easy is it to change pole or cutting attachment?
A - Very easy, it takes just a few seconds after very little practice. Simply untighten each locking mechanism and pull apart the poles / attachment. Obviously there needs to be a ‘tight-fit’ for the product to perform well so you may take a few goes to get the hang of releasing both parts quickly. The only time you need to use a tool is when attaching the short reach hedge trimmer pole – and that’s just a standard size alan key, which is supplied
Q - Can both attachments be used in all 3 sizes?
A - No, the chainsaw attachment will not function with the Short Reach 27cm Pole
Q - Where can I buy synthetic oil for the machine?
A - Most large DIY/Garden retailers such as B&Q , Jewsons, Travis Perkins & most Garden Centres
Q - Where can I buy a spark plug for my EA001?
A - Any where you buy gardening petrol engines or take spark plug to halfords and should be able to supply them.
Q - What are the rubber bungs on the end of the pole for?
A - These are to be taken off before use, they are to protect the drive shaft in transit.
Q - What grease is needed to top up the greased nipple on the chainsaw?
A - We suggest a LM grease for bearings, Castrol make one they could use.
Q - Are these attachments compatible with the Backpack Power Unit (BE003)?
A - No. Neither set of attachments can be used on the other unit.
Q - What ratio should the fuel:oil be?
A - This should be approximately 25:1. On the mixing bottle this is 576ml Fuel and top up to 600 with oil.
Q - The attachments are not moving but the engine is running!
A - Please make sure the attachments are connected correctly. You should hear a click when pushed together and should lock into place.
Q - The drive shaft appears to be stuck in the attachment
A - This happens often when the product is new! Please lightly grease/oil the drive shaft.
Q - The exhaust is vibrating
A - Please try tightening up the bolts. If this does not work the item should be returned.
Q - The exhaust bolts have sheared off
A - please return the item
Q - The chainsaw attachment is not working
A - Try adjusting the tension using an allen key which is in the tool kit supplied
Q - The trigger switch does not lock into place as stated in the manual
A - This is a misprint in the manual - it does not lock into place.
Q - The machine is not starting / keeps cutting out
A - Please check the filters are not blocked up and the spark plug is not wet. Also try taking the fuel cap off and check you cannot see the fuel filter. If you can this needs to be pushed back down into the tank.
Q - The machine seems to be smoking
A - This may happen during initial use and is normal. It could also be caused if there is an incorrect mix in the petrol - the mix should be 25 parts fuel to 1 part oil.
Q - The line has broken and the spool holder is too full to let me press the sides to re-feed it
A - To open the spool holder insert a flat headed screwdriver under the lip
